EndSARS: Osun CP announces IGP’s panel of Inquiry arrival to investigate causes of violence in the state

The Osun State Commissioner of Police (CP), Undie Adie has announced the arrival of the High-Powered committee set up by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Muhammed Adamu, NPM, min, with a view to investigating the immediate and remote causes of the violence engulfed by the EndSARS protesters in the state.

This was made known in a press release which was signed by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Opalola Yemisi Olawoyinon behalf of the CP and was made available to CEOAFRICA.

According to the release, the Panel of Inquiry headed by CP Abutu Taro, fdc arrived the state on 13th November, 2020.

He said that the committee had commenced their work upon their arrival, noting that they had commenced visitation to various scenes of the incident where police facilities were destroyed such as Isale Osun area, Oja-Oba, Oju-Irin (Railway Police Station) old garage area within Osogbo

He disclosed that the committee also visited the victims and other places which include Ile-Ife Area Command and OwenaIjesa under Ilesa Area Command among other areas visited.

“The inauguration of committee is aimed at capturing the pictorials of all damages done to Police infrastructure, personnel in order to proffer suggestions on possible interventions towards reconstruction, re-equipping and requisite supports for the families of the deceased officers and the injured ones,” the Osun Police Commissioner said.

He, therefore commended the committee for their selfless service, a good job well done and appreciate the law abiding citizens of the state for their cooperation and support during the trying periods, while urging them not to relent in their efforts in giving useful and timely information to the police for the state to sustain the tempo of being the safest state in the country.
