The Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in the election, Mr Eyitayo Jegede, has approached the election petition tribunal to challenge the results of the poll following his defeat by the All Progressive Congress candidate, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in the 2020 Ondo State Governorship Election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared the candidate of APC, who is also the incumbent governor of the state as the winner of the election, having scored the highest number of the total votes cast in the election.

According to INEC, Akeredolu defeated Jegede and the candidates of other political parties in the poll.

The PDP candidate who was not satisfied with the results, however, has headed to the tribunal to challenge the results on Friday.

The state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Kennedy Peretei, confirmed the development.
