The Lagos, Ondo and Osun states governments have approved Monday, November 2, 2020 for  the re-opening of all public and private schools.

However, boarding students in Lagos public schools were asked to resume on Sunday, November 1.

Prior to now, schools in the three states had been shut down due to the violence that trailed the #EndSARS protests with the attendant loss of lives and property.

According to the Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, 2020 has been an extraordinary year with recent happenings that led to frequent closure of schools with learning disruptions faced by children.

“We pray and hope that there will be no more disruptions in the academic calendar. However, the state government will always regard the safety of pupils/students, parents and all staff as a matter of priority.

“We recommend that when schools resume on Monday, teaching and learning should continue unhindered till the end of the term,” she added.

In the same vein,the Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology,  Mr Femi Agagu, in a statement, said the state governor ordered all schools to resume on Monday.

“Mr Governor has directed that all schools should resume on Monday November 2,  2020 now that the state has become peaceful. Parents and the public are to note this directive and all schools are to comply,” he said.

The Osun State Government also directed that public and private schools in the state should reopen on Monday and conclude the extended third term of 2019/2020 academic session within one week.

A statement by the Coordinating Director, Osun State Ministry of Education, Kehinde Olaniyan, on Thursday, said Governor Adegboyega Oyetola approved a week extension of the third term.

“Consequent upon the extension approval, the current term will no longer end on October 30, 2020, but will now extend to November 6, 2020.
