The councilor representing Ward 6 in the Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Mr. Karma Agagowei has been killed by gunmen in Opolo area of Yenagoa, the state capital, while he was returning from the ward congress of the Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday.

It was gathered that Agagowei was immediately taken to two hospitals in Yenagoa but was purportedly denied treatment due to the absence of a police report and he died minutes later.

Also, one person, who was with the deceased in a commercial tricycle at the time of the incident, was attacked with machetes by the hoodlums but he, however, escaped with wounds.

The deceased was among the 105 councilors, who were elected during the state local government council election in August last year.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Asinim Butswat, when contacted by newsmen said he was still expecting the details of the incident.
