Belarusian President, Alexander Lukashenko wins election for the sixth time

The 65-year-old Lukashenko, a long serving President of Belarus since the establishment of the office on 20 July 1994 has won the presidential seat for the sixth time.

 According to a preliminary count from the presidential election, Lukashenko won 80.23 per cent of the vote as it was also made known by the central electoral commission that the strongman’s man';s challenger Svetlana Tikhanovskaya won 9.9 per cent in Sunday’s vote.
