The governor of Katsina, Aminu Bello Masari, has claimed that some Nigerian politicians who are against the All progressives Congress (APC) are behind banditry in the north.

Governor Masari made this claim during his visit to the APC's ward and local government chairmen in the state on Sunday, July 19.

The governor said that this camp of politicians are sponsoring violent crimes in the northern region of the country so as to discredit the APC-led government and by so doing mislead the electorate to vote out the ruling party come 2023.

Masari pointed out that these enemies of the APC are plotting to use the insecurity to dislodge the party just like they did during the administration of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

He said, "Most of the bandits and Boko Haram attacks facing the northern part of the country are sponsored by some politicians who are enemies of the present APC government at both federal and state.

"Today, politicians who are willing or intending to contest 2023 elections are sponsoring banditry because the way the bandits mastered how to operate guns and by how they specialised in ambushing soldiers, we should know that there is someone behind it."
