The legal suit challenging the re-election of President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe by the opposition party MDC’s candidate, Morgan Tsvangirai has been withdrawn.

CEOAFRICA.com gathered that the withdrawal was announced by MDC Spokesman, Douglas Mwonzora. He said, “The prime minister has withdrawn his election petition.” He said the challenge was withdrawn as it was felt the legal process would not be fair.

Tsvangirai had mounted the challenge after alleging widespread fraud in the presidential and parliamentary elections that Mugabe and his ruling Zanu-PF party won with a landslide.
