A 9-year-old Nigerian boy, Joseph Oluomachi Opara  who hawks coconut and pear on the street, won the heart of Chief Femi Fani-Kayode after a video where he was seen singing  Catholic hymns appeared online.

The boy whose gift was discovered while hawking on the street, dreams to be a Catholic Priest, the Nigerian former minister of aviation said.

Following viewing the video clip online, Fani-Kayode requested to know the boy’s parents and promised to place Opara on scholarship up to University level alongside monthly allowance to enable him quit hawking and focus on his studies and priestly ambition.

Recall that CEOAFRICA reported on the 22nd of June  that in celebration of Fathers';;; Day, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma announced he will adopt him. He also said he will sponsor his education.

"I also undertake, personally, to sponsor him from primary school level (his current educational level) to Catholic priesthood (his career choice)." Governor Hope stated.

On Friday, June 26, Fani-Kayode posted a video notifying the public that the boy and his parents have been found by his team in Owerri, Imo State. He called on individuals to support the lad for the realisation of his dreams.

He as well commended the boy’s parents for their steadfastness in the Christian faith despite the challenges.

Supporting the video where the cash was presented, Kayode wrote, “A promise fulfilled! – After much ado we finally found the handsome young man, Master Olumachi Opara who sings like an angel and I have honoured my pledge.

“He touched my life with his songs of praise and he inspired and brought hope to millions. May God continue to be with him and use him.

“I call on other prominent personalities and public figures that have made a similar pledge to him to please honour them and I reiterate my intention to be responsible for his school fees from now until he finishes his University. We must ensure that his gift and talent does not go to waste.”

He added,” Again there will be no more hawking or selling of food items by the road for him because I will also send him an allowance every month. His golden voice which is his gift from God, and his love and passion for the Lord has certainly made a way for him and his life will NEVER be the same again.

Recall that CEOAFRICA reported the trending video of this talented boy.
