The Ogun State Commissioner of Police(CP), Kenneth Ebrimson warns religious groups to desist from re-opening religious centers across the state as a result of an increase of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This advice is coming on the heels of intelligence report received by the command that some religious leaders are planning to reopen their places of worship in defiance to the state government.

In a press release signed by the PPRO of Ogun State Police Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the CP appeals to those who have such intention to desist from doing so in their own interests.

He further states that such an action will be taken as a deliberate attempt by religious leaders to spread the virus in the state, adding that it is the responsibility of the police to maintain peace and order. “The police will not fold its hands while some people will be openly flaunting the law of the land,” the CP says.

According to him, all the Area Commanders, DPOs as well as the Command’s Tactical Squads have been directed to be on surveillance patrol across the states, with the view of bringing to justice anybody found disobeying the government’s directives.

He enjoins the citizens of the state to the see the fight against COVID-19 as a collective responsibility with the state government.
