CP Olukolu parades 36 suspected arm robbers, kidnappers, others, impounds 322 vehicles for violating curfew order

The Nigerian Police Force, Oyo State Police Command on Wednesday 13th May 2020 paraded thirty six (36) suspects for various offences, including armed robbery, impersonation, kidnapping, murder and cultism.

While parading the suspects at the Police Command Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, Olukolu stated that the suspects were arrested at different locations of the state.

Some items recovered from the suspects include: 2 AK-49 riffles, magazines, thirty eight (38) rounds of live ammunition, Nigerian army identity card, army coloured kniker camouflage, police inspector uniform, fake police warrant card, N280, 000, motorcycles, phones, air conditioner, left leg slipper, locally made cut to size guns, live cartridges, empty shell of cartridge, one army face cap, poisonous knives, laptops, plasma TV sets, charms, walkie talkie devices, cutlasses, handsaw, hammer, axe, pairs of scissors, Indian hemp, others.  

On the same vein, the men of the CP’s monitoring unit also impounded 322 vehicles and arrested 325 persons for allegedly violating the 7 pm. to 6 am. curfew imposed by Oyo  State government.

CP. Olukolu, disclosed this during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan on Wednesday.

The commissioner of police stated that 241 motorcycles and 61 tricycles were also impounded.

Speaking further, Olukolu said that 10 police officers were injured and three police vehicles damaged, while enforcing the curfew.

The crime fighting Commissioner of Police  said the command would continue to enforce the curfew as well as the ban on inter-state travels.

While admitting that the enforcement of the ban on inter-state travels by the police had not been wholly effective, the police commissioner, however, said that his men were doing their best.

He said that the Joint Special Task Force operation of the command and other sister security agencies in the state was still active.

Olukolu solicited for the support of members of the public on credible and timely information that would enable the police to be proactive and combat crimes in the state.

The CP therefore warmed the residents to be law abiding citizens and for those with criminal behaivour to desist from it or leave the state as the law will not spare anybody rather it will catch up with them.
