Fishermen kill havoc-wreaking hippopotamus in Kebbi

Fishermen from Samanaji town in Koko Besse Local Government Area, Kebbi State have trapped and killed a hippopotamus said to be wreaking havoc on farmlands in the area.

After trailing the animal’s movements for some time, it was killed by teams of fishermen.

It was learnt that the Council’s Chairman Bello Sarkin Gabas, as well as members of the council, have visited the area.

Samanaji town is situated on the banks of River Niger, therefore, there is a constant encounter between humans and some endangered aquatic animals.
