The Catholic Bishops of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province, comprising of Ibadan Archdiocese, Ilorin, Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo and Osogbo Diocese, on Tuesday, 4th February 2020, met in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Speaking at the meeting, the President of the Catholic Bishops of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Gabriel Abegunrin, advised the Federal Government not to tag all criticisms of government policies as negative in order to tackle the security challenges in Nigeria.

 Abegunrin said authentic democracy derives its strength from the quality and diversity of the criticisms which it accommodates.

According to him, no country can survive without welcoming ideals from various critics.

He therefore urged on the Federal Government to listen to good ideas offered by Nigerians so as to address the challenges confronting the country.
