Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi Praised on Wednesday the great efforts exerted by the concerned bodies to release the 32 Egyptian fishermen, who were detained in Yemen for two months.

“I have followed with all pride the efforts exerted to end the detention of 32 fishermen in Yemen. Such efforts have led to preserving their lives and returning them safely to Egypt,” Sisi wrote on his Twitter account.

The Egyptian authorities announced on Tuesday that they have succeeded in bringing back the 32 fishermen, who have been detained in Yemen for two months. They arrived on board a private jet at Cairo International Airport, according to Mena

Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Nabila Makram said in a statement that the move clearly testifies to the state's keenness to protect its nationals abroad.

The 32 fishermen were held in Yemen after they went fishing in restricted areas of the Red Sea.

The Egyptian media interviewed some of the fishermen shortly after their return, as they thanked President Sisi and the government for all the efforts exerted to bring them back safely to their homeland.

“When we heard that we were going back to Egypt, we were extremely happy. We would like to thank President Sisi for supporting us. We knew that the state would never leave us,” one of the fishermen said.
