2020: Oyo fire service boss commiserates with Akesan Market victims, gives safety tips, releases emergency numbers

The deputy director of Oyo state fire service, Comrade Adewuyi Moshood Olusolahas commiserated with the victims of the Akesan Market and promised that the unit is leaving no stone unturned to Zero tolerance for Fire incident.

Olusola stated this during an exclusive interview with CEOAFRICA at Oyo State Fire Services headquarters, Agodi Ibadan on Tuesday, 7th of January 2020.

The Oyo boss said ‘Fire service issaddle with the responsibility of safety of lives, protection of property from destructionof fire and at the same time to render humanitarian service to members of the public.’

He noted that fire is an inevitable property or an item that is very peculiar to our daily living.

 “Fire serves as a good servant if properly handle well but becomes a wicked master if we mishandle.Note that fire is a wicked master if disrespected, like we human being says “respect is reciprocal” Olusola said.

The deputy director urges everyone to be very careful and observant because we are inHarmattan Season. All electrical appliances should be removed from the socket when not in use.

He equally advice that those who are in the habit of using phone and insecticide when cooking at home to desist from the habit as this can cause fire outbreak.

On the side of smokers, he urged them to always throw the remains of cigarette on the floor and use their foot to rub it off after the enjoyment because such is very dangerous to the community at this season.

He also condemned the habit of refueling a generator set with a phone touch or light, saying that it can lead to fire outbreak. He urged generator users to discontinue from the habit of refueling while the generator is ‘On’ as this is very dangerous and may equally cause fire outbreak.

Olusola urged everyone to be proactive. “When we consider security, we should also consider safety because in most cases security threats don’t claim lives but fire incident claims both properties and lives” he said.

Olusola therefore enjoined the citizens of Oyo State to give maximum support to the present administration of Engr Seyi Makinde toward making Oyo State Zero tolerance for Fire outbreak.
