NIGERIA WOMEN CELEBRATES AN ERA OF WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

The Nigeria Women from the 36 states of the Nigeria Federation today celebrates the women for the empowerment they have gained through the support of President GoodLuck administration.

The event which took place at the Eagle Square, Abuja, the Federal capital territory, was organized by the National Council for Women Society with the Tag “Nigeria Women Rally for Peace & Empowerment.”

Women of different dignitaries were present at this occasion including the First Lady of Nigeria, Her excellency, Patience Dame GoogLuck; Vice President Namadi Sambo; Minister of Culture and Tourism, Chief Edem Duke; Minister of Education, Hajia Rukayat; Minister for Women Affair, Zainab Amina; Minister of States for Foreign Affairs, Olugbenga Ashiru, Professional associations among others.

The event which has Dame Patience Jonathan as mother of the day and Vice President Namadi Sambo, as the special guest of honour, availed women the opportunity to appreciate themselves as well as commend themselves for their contributions to the nation’s peace and development.

The Nigeria First Lady in her speech, acknowledged Nigerian women for their role in the nation’s growth, encouraging them to persevere in their God-given role as a mother and in the promotion of peace and unity in the nation.

Amina Zainab, the Minister for Women Affair, in her remarks, expressed her gratitude towards the media for their efforts in upholding the dignity of this nation, urging them to keep up the good work and ensure that only the truth is broadcast because the unity of this nation to a very large extent lies in what the media propagates in the society.
