Five referees of the Nigeria Professional Football League have been sanctioned by the Nigeria Football Federation over their conduct in the matches they administered in the ongoing 2019/20 season.

This was disclosed in a statement by the NFF Referees Committee, signed by National Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Referees Association, Kelechi Mejuobi, which was made available to our correspondent on Wednesday.

“Referee Prince Isiah, who supervised the match between Katsina United and Enymbia International during the week two encounter has been suspended for the next five Premier League matches for inability to enforce the rules of the Premier League, leading to unacceptable incidents during the match; and for glaring inability to manage the players.

“Sanctioned also are the referee; the assistant referees and the fourth official of the week one match between Heartland and MFM. They are Ahmad Rabiu, Peter Ogwu, Musa Dung Davon and A. Udoette, who were discovered to have been involved in an act capable of bringing the game into disrepute.

“The committee decided to suspend the entire four officials until the end of the first stanza of the 2019/20 Premier League competition,” part of the statement read.

The sanctioned referees, the statement said, will undergo fresher courses before being considered back for appointments.
