Chrisland University signs MoU with FMC in preparation for College of Basic Medical Science programmes

The Chrisland University, Abeokuta, on Wednesday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, in preparation for her upcoming medical programmes.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the foremost tertiary hospitals in Nigeria was part of the university efforts to meeting with relevant requirements to run the Medical and Health Science programmes including provision of clinical opportunities for her students.

The university which is one of the fastest growing private university in Nigeria is currently preparing for National Universities Commission (NUC) and Council verification for programmes under College of Basic Medical Sciences to includes Nursing, Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Science, Public Health, Pharmacy, Anatomy, Physiology among others.

Meanwhile, in line with the agreement, the Hospital shall provide clinical training and practical experience to Chrisland University students in the area of Basic Medical Sciences among other things.

Earlier before the agreement, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Neuropsychiatric Hospital Aro, Abeokuta, Ogun State and Holy Trinity Hospital, Lagos State with respect to the upcoming programmes in the College of Basic Medical Science.

Professor Babalola has also toured the different sections of the Pharmacy Department of the Federal Medical Centre to include, Drug Production Unit, Drug Stores, Drug Information Services, Cardio Pharmacy and others as she aimed to train pharmacists better in an integrated manner towards achieving a sustainable healthcare delivery in Nigeria.

However, the university has wished to also partner with the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) to accomplish the institutions dream to make some emphasis on Molecular Biology and Precision Medicine.

The MoU signed was joy for both the Vice Chancellor, Professor Babalola and the FMC Medical Director, Professor A. A Musa.

The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Ogun State is one of the foremost tertiary hospitals in Nigeria with over 150 consultants and all aspects of medical practice.  It has been in existence for 27 years. The volume of patients cuts across Nigeria and neighboring West African countries.
