The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Shina T. Olukolu has assured the people of Oyo State that there would be more aggressive police patrol, stop and search operations and intelligence-led raids of criminal hideouts in the state before, during and after the yuletide season.

Olukolu who gave this assurance while parading 40 suspects over alleged kidnapping, murder, cultism and armed robbery at the Command’s Headquarter, Eleyele in Ibadan, Oyo State, stated that the Command under his watch is resolutely determined to allay fears by constantly combing the state for any form of criminal activities before, during and after the Ember months.

While speaking, he said “The security architecture of the state is being constantly rejigged with operational strategies being reviewed while concerted efforts is also being put in place to combat crimes at all times in Oyo State”.

“There will be more aggressive Police patrols, stop and search operations and intelligence-led raids of criminal hideouts both within and outside Ibadan metropolis. This is not indeed to harass or intimidate any member of the public, but to put criminals at bay and to check or forestall any security breach in Oyo State” he said.

He warned criminal elements using Okada to commit dastardly criminal act including murder that the long arms of the law will catch up with those on the run or intending to commit same.

The Commissioner further said “All genuine Okada riders plying the roads have nothing to fear but they are implored to desist from carrying more than one passenger while transiting from one place to another. They should avoid late night movement as the Oyo State Government policy on motorcycle operations shall be enforced without any hesitation”.

He noted that there shall be a serious clamp down on erring Okada riders as there are measures emplaced to curtail their excesses and also bring to book whoever is found wanting or violating the laws in the state.

Olukolu enjoined the good citizens of Oyo State to go about their lawful businesses without any fear of molestation as there shall be maximum protection of lives and property as the Command has begun massive deployments of Police Tactical teams (SRS, SARS, AKS) within and outside Ibadan metropolis before, during and after the yuletide season.

The Commissioner however solicited from the members of the public their unflinching supports through Community-Police partnership with the Command by constantly availing them with credible information that will reveal activities of criminal elements in Oyo State.
