The Ogun State Government had allocated 166 hectares of land for the execution of the Police Housing Scheme project in Abeokuta.

This was revealed on Wednesday by the Ogun Police Command, who stated that Governor Ibikunle Amosun-led administration had already released the plots to assist the command in the implementation of its first phase of the project.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, speaking at a workshop organized in Abeokuta for the station officers, administrative officers and PROs of formations in the state, expressed regret that police personnel had not accessed over N8 billion tied down in the National House Fund due to the lack of a police mortgage bamk.

According to Adejobi, the Police Mortgage Bank gives every policeman the opportunity to access up to N15 million housing loan, repayable for a maximum period of 30years and should not be seen as “a white elephant,” adding that the IG had directed police commissioners in the states to discuss with the governor on the imperative of allocating the plots of land for the police housing scheme.

However, the command urged its personnel to key into the initiative of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar on the establishment of the Police Mortgage Bank to facilitate housing loans for police officers and men.
