A 78-year old cleric, Mallam Bello Umar, owner of the spiritual rehabilitation centre in Daura, where inmates were believed to have been subjected to inhuman treatment, has been moved from Daura to the headquarters of the Katsina Police Command for further interrogation.

Ceoafrica gathered that the cleric was moved to the headquarters to enable the Police get more information on the rehabilitation centre, especially on its activities.

It could not ascertain when the cleric and the two other men arrested along with him would be taken to court.

One of the sources who pleaded anonymity said, “Definitely, we shall take him to court; but that depends on when we complete our investigation.

“The investigation will also determine the charges to be preferred against him and others.

“We are still looking for teachers at the rehabilitation centre, as there are allegations of homosexuality against some of them too, apart from the allegation of high-handedness leveled against them by the inmates.”

It was also learnt that Sanusi Buba, the Katsina Commissioner of Police, also disclosed  that the inmates had been taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

It may be recalled that the Police on Monday arrested the 78-year-old cleric and two others.

The Police Commissioner led the operation team to the centre on Monday, where over 60 inmates were seen in terrible, dehumanising condition.
