Bandits freed Katsina councilor, four others

A Local Government councillor in kastina state, Gambo Yarliyau, his wife and their one-year-old daughter has been released by bandits as comfirmed by Katsina State government on Saturday.

The wife’ s name and that of the daughter were not given.

Also said to have been released from bandits’ captivity were two unnamed indigenes of the state.

The five freed victims were said to have been in bandits’ captivity for nine days.

A statement by Governor Aminu Masari’ s Director-General (Media), Mallam Labaran Malumfashi in Katsina on Saturday confirmed the development.

CEOAFRICA learnt that the councillor, who represents Barkiya Ward in Kurfi LG of the state and the two members of his family were presented to Masari on Friday evening by the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the council, Jabiru Abdullahi Tsauri.

The other two freed victims, who were said to be traumatised, have been taken to Kurfi hospital for medical attention.

Governor Masari reportedly said that government would continue to ensure the security of lives and property in the state.
