Chrisland University VC, Prof. Babalola, other Healthcare Regulators in Africa attends 2nd African GS1 Healthcare Conference in Lagos

The Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University, Abeokuta, Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola joined other Healthcare regulators in Africa to attends the 2nd African GS1 Healthcare Conference to discuss the importance of healthcare standards for traceability, patient safety and efficiency in the pharmaceutical supply chain.

The 3Day global Healthcare Conference which was held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos State was with the theme: "Working together across Africa to achieve better traceability of pharmaceuticals".

The international event with support from multiple health financing institutions welcomed over 300 participants mainly from regulatory agencies, pharma industries, international organizations like USAIDS, MSH, World Bank, USP and others.

Meanwhile, it is worthy to note that Prof. Babalola was the only participants from academia who was invited based on her pedigree with medicine regulatory and quality.

The 2nd African GS1 Healthcare Conference in Lagos, Nigeria was an unparalleled opportunity to explore the global trend toward greater healthcare supply chain visibility and security.

Also, working together across Africa to achieve better traceability of pharmaceuticals is key to ensuring patients are less exposed to falsified, expired, recalled or otherwise harmful pharmaceuticals and have access to quality, safe and efficacious medicines.

However, the Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Professor Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye calls on all the 35 countries present at the GS1 Healthcare Conference in Lagos to join and sign the call to action for African strategy for Pharmaceutical supply chain traceability.

Professor Babalola noted that the benefits of traceability implementation per the Ministry of Health in Turkey include, prevents resale of counterfeit and expired medicines, expedites recalls, no drugs shortages, enables pharmacovigilance, etc. More at #GS1HCLagos  https://t.co/fgjHtAJylA
