Two inmates who escaped early Tuesday from an East Texas jail through a perimeter fence that had been cut were back in custody Tuesday evening, CEOAFRICA learnt.

Clay Sterling Harvey, 44, of Nederland and Chance Marshall Hunt, 23, of Beaumont, who were discovered missing Tuesday morning, were captured Tuesday afternoon in San Jacinto County, sheriff’s Capt. Ken DeFoor told the Houston Chronicle.

Authorities think the two escaped sometime between around 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. Tuesday.

DeFoor said a fence on the jail's east side was found cut and appeared to be the escape route.

Records show Harvey was being held on a drug-related charge and a parole violation count.

Hunt was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a burglary-related count and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
