The Commissioner of Police, Oyo state Police Command CP Shina T. Olukolu has on Monday warned the entire citizens of Oyo state to disregard the Illegal mass protest tagged “Ibadan Coalition for Revolution” and a video trending on the social media being circulated by a faceless group called “Global Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria and others”.
In a Press release signed and issued out to CEOAFRICA by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Oyo State Police Command, SP Fadeyi Olugbenga, it described it as the declaration by the faceless group amounts to an act of treasonable felony and terrorism.
It however warned the conveners of the gathering as it affects Oyo state to have a rethink and immediately put a stop to the illegal planned protest as the full wrath of the law will be brought to bear on any individual or group who will want to test the capacity and the collective will of security in Oyo state.
The Press Release reads, “the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, CP Shina T. Olukolu wishes to inform the entire citizens of Oyo State to disregard the above captioned message and a video trending on the social media being circulated by a faceless group called the “Global Coalition and Democracy in Nigeria and Others”.
He further said “It as an illegal group attempting to incite the generality of the people to join a planned ‘revolution’ march against the Federal Government of Nigeria today Monday August 5th, 2019 mainly to force a regime change in the country”.
“The Commissioner of Police equally admonished parents and guardians to warn their children and wards to stay clear of this planned protest which is not only criminal but an act that is inimical and injurious to our cooperate interest and collective existence. The police in Oyo state will not fold arms and allow any individual or groups to create anarchy, chaos and acts that can lead to breakdown of law and order”.
Olukolu however enjoined the people of Oyo state to go about their lawful businesses without any fear of molestation or threat from any individual or groups as adequate security measures have been emplaced to respond adequately to any security threats from any quarters or groups who may be bent on disturbing the relative peace and tranquility being enjoyed by the law abiding citizens of Oyo State.
