JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - An Eastern Cape woman has been stabbed and killed in her bed, while lying next to her 10-year-old daughter.
The 44-year-old victim, Nolundi Vumsindo, was sleeping in her home in Holela Village, Centane, next to her daughter when a man pushed into the house at around 03:30 and stabbed the woman, before running away.
Although the child was not harmed and has been referred to social workers for counselling.
The district Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha said the motive for the murder is not yet known.
“Eastern Cape Police provincial commissioner, Lt General Liziwe Ntshinga has condemned the murder of a defenseless woman. She vowed that Centane police detectives will work around the clock to trace and arrest the suspect,” he added.
