2019 AFCON: Dangote keeps to his words, redeems $50K pledge to Super Eagles

ABUJA, Nigeria -                               Nigeria’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote, on Wednesday, redeemed his pledge of $50,000 to the Super Eagles for their performance during the last African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The Nigeria Football Federal (NFF) revealed that the money was presented to the team in Lagos by Olakunle Alake, GMD of Dangote Group, accompanied by Anthony Chiejina, Chief Corp. Communication Officer.

The Super Eagles team was represented by John Ogu, Team Admin, Enebi Achor and Kit manager, Chidi Ngoka.

Dangote made the pledge after the Super Eagles’ 1-0 victory over Tunisia for the third place at the competition.

Recalled that CEOAfrica reported that Dangote pledged $50,000 for each goal scored by the team in the game, on the eve of their semifinal clash against the Desert Foxes of Algeria.

While Chief Femi Otedola pledged the sum of $25, 000 for each goal scored by the Super Eagles

However, the Super Eagles scored only one goal in the encounter, losing 2-1 to eventual champions, Algeria.
