Angola employ NBA player for first time in Fiba world cup

LUANDA, Angola -                           Angola senior men's basketball team have called for the first time, an National Basketball Association, NBA, player to their squad to take part in the International Basketball Federation, FIBA, World Cup to be held in China.

Report has it that the athlete is the 2, 08 meters power forward, Bruno Fernando who currently plays for Atlanta Hawks.

The player, who was trained at Angola's 1º de Agosto youth category has already played for several US universities and was part of the Atlanta Hawks squad that disputed the summer games following the signing of his three-year contract with the team.

Angola will also count on the presence of Sílvio Sousa, who is currently playing for Kansas University in US.

Angola rank 39th in the world and third best in Africa, the team have been crowned African champions 11 times, however their best position was the 10th position achieved in 2006 in Japan.
