BIRNIN-KEBBI, Kebbi -                   The governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Birnin-Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi, has dismissedthe case filed by the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the governor of the state, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

The tribunal thus ruled to the favour of Bagudu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2019 general elections.

CEOAfrica gathered that the tribunal chairman, Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu, who led other judges, affirmed that the petition by the PDP lacked all necessary evidence that could portray the election as full of irregularities and malpractices.

As a result, the tribunal punctured the claim by the PDP and its candidate in the election, Senator Isa Galaudu and threw out their case for lacking merit.

Counsel to Governor Bagudu and the APC, Yakubu Maikiyau, while reacting to the judgement, told journalists that the pronouncement by the tribunal was in order in its entirety.

Maikyau also asked the PDP to head for the appeal court if it feels dissatisfies with the judgement.
