CHIEF AMBROSE OWURU ACCUSED OF N66 MILLIOM FRAUD GETS A N10 MILLION BAIL

Chief Ambrose Owuru, the former presidential candidate of the Hope Democratic Party, accused of cheating Mr. Ikechukwu Eze of N66 in a land deal, was granted bail on Tuesday by a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, River State.

The politician who has been in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission since August 2, 2013, having been arraigned on five counts of forgery, obtaining money by false pretence, and altering, has been granted bail of N10 million.

The presiding judge, Justice Suleiman Aliyu, gave the bail conditions that Owuru’s surety must be a lawyer of more than 20 years experience and must swear to an affidavit of proof of means as well as signs an undertaking to be bringing the accused to court regularly for trial.

Justice ordered that the accused remain in the EFCC custody pending the time the conditions are met as he adjourned the matter till October 10, 2013.
