How Gov. Ortom planned to combat criminals in Benue state

MAKURDI, Benue -          Following the insecurity disturbance in the country, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Monday, held a joint security meeting with Second Class Chiefs and Local Government Caretaker Chairmen.

The meeting was held at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi with a resolve to intensify the fight against crime.

Terver Akase, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, in a statement, said “the government would hold responsible, any individual or group of persons providing cover for suspects.

“The meeting sent a message to criminals that there will be no hiding place for them in any part of the state.

“The meeting emphasized collaboration in intelligence gathering between local government chairmen and the chiefs, to assist security agencies.

“It urged people of the state to continue to support security operatives with timely and useful information that can lead to the arrest of criminals.

“The traditional rulers and council chairmen commended Governor Ortom for the tireless efforts he is making to guarantee peace within the state and on its borders.”
