CAIRO, Egypt - Super Eagles star, Odion Ighalo has apologized following Nigeria’s 2-1 defeat to Algeria which thwarted Nigeria’s AFCON 2019 title hopes.
A Riyad Mahrez strike late in additional time saw Algeria advance to the final at the expense of the Eagles.
Ighalo speaking after the match said the Super Eagles feel bad losing to Algeria and would have loved to remain in contention for the title, but will now shift focus on ensuring they compensate with a win against Tunisia.
“We want to tell them we are sorry, we gave our best but our best was not enough, we conceded a last minute goal.
“We have to keep working hard, we have a game on the 17th of July 2019 in the Third place. We hope to win that game and go with that.”
