KAMPALA - Ugandan activist and music promoter Andrew Mukasa aka Bajjo, who was arrested for an offensive video he posted on social media, against the government, has been released on sh4m cash bail.
Bajjo was on Thursday granted bail by Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate Stella Amabilis after spending close to a month on remand over charges of inciting violence.
The activist was Last month, was charged with two counts of inciting violence and offensive communication against President Yoweri Museveni.
Bajjo is said to have made a video and posted it on social media platforms calling people to overthrow the government before 2021 general elections.
Prosecution alleges that during the month of June at various places of Masaka, Mbarara, Ibanda and Kampala, Bajjo incited members of the public to carry out violent acts against the person of the President, CEOAfrica gathered from state media, New Vision.
In regard to offensive communication, the state alleges that Bajjo also in June this year with intent to disturb the peace and privacy of the president recorded a video and posted it on social media containing messages that he would overthrow the government before 2021.
According to prosecution, Bajjo allegedly used his mobile phone to make the suggestion with no purpose of legitimate communication.
