23rd General Assembly of Organization of African First Ladies for Development holds in Niger

The 23rd General Assembly of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) is currently going on in Niamey, Niger Republic capital.

The meeting with theme; ‘Collaborating to Transform Africa: Addressing the Needs of Vulnerable Populations’, kicked-off by on Monday July 8, 2019, at Radisson Blu, Niamey, CEOAfrica gathered from OAFLAD media advisory.

The gathering has in attendance First Ladies of Africa, Commissioner for Social Affairs AUC, Representatives of UN agencies, the private sector, donor agencies and members of civil society.

Following the official opening of the 23rd Ordinary General Assembly of OAFLAD today, a new President of the assembly (2019-2021) which would have been elected in a closed session the day before, will be officially introduced at the event.

The new President is expected to address the General Assembly at the ongoing meeting.

Mrs. Amira ElFadil Mohamed, Commissioner for Social Affairs of the African Union Commission will also present remarks.

The Assembly is slated to have two dialogues under the themes: “OAFLAD Strategic vision 2019-2023; honoring the past, challenging the present and creating the future for OAFLAD” and “OAFLA to OAFLAD: Value of Creating new partnerships”.

Also, an official recognition of Member States who have held the OAFLAD Presidency and Founding First Ladies is also scheduled to take place.

Earlier, H.E. Mme Aïssata Issoufou Mahamadou, First Lady of the Republic of Niger welcomed the participants to the General Assembly.
