Prof. Babalola exploits her seven points agenda, changes Nigeria Universities patterns of teaching

As part of her seven set goals for Chrisland University, Abeokuta, Prof. Chinedum Peace Babalola, vice chancellor of the citadel of learning, on 12 and 13 June, 2019 changed the conventional partner of teaching in Nigeria by organizing a two-day teaching and learning skill for the whole lecturers of the institution.

Professor Babalola affirmed this in a chat with CEOAfrica, during the two-day training retreat held at the school auditorium.

The erudite Professor, whose burning desire is to see Chrisland university students stand tall among their contemporaries in every field of lives, said it was part of her missions and visions to re-train the lecturers of the school to further step them up with the modern pattern of inculcating knowledge to the students.

The intellectual Pharmacist affirmed that the old style of teaching has faded away as the young generation needs to blend with world classic pattern of learning, and the only way to achieve this, is to assist the trainers meet up with the technological world.

According to her, “teaching and learning has changed from conventional, teaching and learning is now out-come based, competence based, and most of the lecturers have been taught in the conventional way, so we want to also teach them how to teach better, especially since they are teaching the young generation who are technological wise, so it is important they also come down to their level to teach them better,” the zealous professor stated.

Adding that teaching is not just one-way traffic ideology this time around but involves both the students and the lectures, while charging the lecturers to start putting things into action forthwith.

 “Teaching has changed from teacher centred to learner centred,” she added.

Recall that the citadel of learning had welcomed team of experts from the University of Ibadan to dissect the needed pedagogical skills in teaching and learning process. 

The team, led by Professor Kola Babarinde, Pioneer Director of Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, University of Ibadan unveiled the pedagogical skills in teaching methodology and learning process.
