Heavy rain: Lagos residents lament as flood takes over community (photos)

Residents of Ijesha, a populated area of Surulere in Lagos state are weeping to the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for help as their community has become flooded due to the recent rains.

The residents expressed fear that the situation could get worse when the rains become serious. The plea of the residents comes at a period most parts of the state are flooded making it difficult for the people to go about their daily activities.

One of the residents in the affected area, Adeyinka Ademuyiwa, said it had become important to call for intervention from the government because the canals are blocked with debris thus making it difficult to channel water when it rains.

“Government, please come to the rescue of the people living at Ijesha Surulere. The canal is full to the brim and blocked; now growing grasses on it.

“So it (is) causing a huge flood in the whole area now that it is raining season. Please Lagos state government help,” he lamented.
