Chrisland University equips lectures, build world leaders for better Nigeria

Chrisland University on Wednesday 12th June, 2019 recorded another worthwhile achievement, which its efficacy to the global world cannot be overemphasized.

The Citadel of learning, under the leadership of erudite Vice Chancellor, Professor Peace Babalola had a workshop/symposium for both the learners and the lecturers, Wednesday in the school auditorium and at Richton Hotel, Abeokuta hotel lounge for the lecturers and students’ representatives respectively.

CEOAfrica recalls that the students had appointed their Students Representative Council (SRC), in which the campaign of office was done during the Students’ week.

The Citadel of learning thereby deemed it fit to organize a leadership retreat for the 9 members of the SRC in a perfect place where the students could really have an outpour of their desires, and where the leadership traits can be masterminded, as the view to preparing them for relevance in the society at large.

The facilitator, Engineer Abiodun Fijabi while feeding questions from CEOAfrica considered this move by the institution as something “phenomenal”

In his words, “this will not only prepare the students for the school environment alone, but also to be generational leaders”

The 9 members of the Students Representative Council conventionally affirmed that “one of their aims is to increase the population of Chrisland University Students.”

They also urged “the school management to listen to their voice, as they serve as a nexus between the entire students and the management.”

“The students should support us, as we have many things in place to make Chrisland University the best,” they dissolved.

The Vice Chancellor while speaking on the SRC affirmed that “the assigning of the SRC was informed by the need and passion to give the students voice.”

Professor Babalola thereby urged the students to be informed on the affairs of the entire students so as not to pave way for several instances of misconduct, and update the management on any facts gotten, as the university is fully ready to go against any form of indiscipline.

The 9 members of the SRC are:

Isitua Ifeanyi: President

Ene Adaga: Vice President

Muhammed Mustapha Idris: Secretary

Kikelomo Folashade: Assistant Publicity Secretary

Odusunya Olayide: Social Director

Odunsi Mayowa: Sport Director

Annabel Anthony: Assistant Sport Director

Martha Kave: Assistant Vice President/ Female Hall Governor

Tope Alabi: Male Hall Governor

The University also welcomed team of experts led by Prof. K. Babarinde, the immediate past/pioneer Director of Centre for Teaching and Learning from the University of Ibadan in which the lecturers of Chrisland University were trained on how to have a transformational and technological teaching through pedagogical skills.

In that regards, the lecturers were given expository teaching on how to use their academic prowess alongside the good usage of the technology in disseminating dexterous and unique teaching method on the learners.

The VC while commenting of the two day workshop organized for both the lecturers and students, gratified that both the workshop done for the lecturers, and voice given to the students are part of the visions she has for the institution of learning.

Adding that “in it all, our staff and students are being equipped for a better Nigeria in Chrisland University, the home of Intellectual Radiance.

She attested that “there is an ongoing move on the change in the school’s curriculum and the pattern of teaching by the lecturers”

CEOAfrica recall that Chrisland University has been accredited by the National University Commission (NUC), and has also gotten a full license accreditation of some courses.

In line with these achievements, the prolific Vice Chancellor stated that “the institution is on the move to getting the College of Medicine, Engineering and Law which have been licensed and put in place by the NUC”.

While feeding questions from CEOAfrica, the Vice Chancellor asserted that “this retreat was a dream come through”, having pinpointed that, “what she had put up this day was one of her 7 points agenda when she assumed office”.

Chrisland University, Abeokuta has been on top of her game for the past five years, and has kept striving to be among the leading universities in the global world.
