The residence of the immediate past Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, was on Friday night invaded by unknown gangsters, suspected to be hired assassins, The Nation reports.

The Okorocha residence is located in Ogboko, Ideato South Council Area of Imo State.

The muggers, according to a family source, arrived the ex-Governor’s residence at about 2am and overpowered the security guard before gaining entrance into the main building.

The report thereby had it that, no fortune was removed. But Okorocha’s bedroom and other places were thoroughly marauded, raising suspicion that the gunmen maybe hired assassins.

This is coming two days after the Akachi tower, one of the monuments built by the erstwhile governor, was bulldozed reportedly on the orders of the State Government, of which the state government has debunked such claim, insisting it has no hand in the demolition.
