The collision of two cars on the Happy Valley Road in Bloemfontein early on Friday night had a woman been killed and three other people been wounded.

ER24 spokesman, Russel Meiring attested that the ER24 personnel got to the scene at about 6.15pm to find the two cars in the middle of the road.

"On closer inspection, paramedics found the body of a woman, believed to be in her 70s, lying in the passenger seat of one of the vehicles.

“Unfortunately, the woman had already succumbed to her injuries. Nothing could be done for her and she was declared dead,” the spokesman said.

Three other people examined at the scene had a man in the same vehicle as the deceased, with a lot of wounds, and was in a critical condition.

Two other women from the second vehicle were seen with just ephemeral wounds.

The patients were treated by the ER24 personnel, and provided the severely wounded man with advanced life support interventions.

Once treated, the victims were moved to Mediclinic Bloemfontein for further treatment.

The spokesman dissolved that local authorities were on the scene for further probes.
