Passenger traffic at Egyptian airports is on an upward bearing after the collapse generated from regime changes and terrorism.

The Egyptian government appointed the former International Monetary Fund official, Rania Al-Mashat as tourism minister in 2018, which was the latest move to revive Egypt’s flagging tourism sector, which has endured a number of setbacks over the past decade.

According to the official State Information Service (SIS), tourism generated USD13 billion for the Egyptian economy in 2010, when 14.7 million tourists visited the country. "After that, the tourism sector has been suffering recession in Egypt over the past few years due to political turmoil and relevant security challenges that resulted from the ouster of two heads of state in 2011 and 2013," it added.
