A 28-year-old man was pronounced 18 years imprisonment earlier this week by the Wynberg Regional Court following his murdering case of a 37-year-old man.
The accused, Byron Davids murdered the 37-year-old man for allegedly impregnating his girlfriend, from a statement the Western Cape police issued on Friday
The Police spokesman, Andrè Traut attested that Davids was sentenced earlier this week for murdering Denzil Thorpe in September last year.
Davids was apprehended and found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and arsenal on the same day as the culprit, and was also sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and two years for the possession of arsenal. The three sentences will be served concurrently.
Provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Khombinkosi Jula commended Sergeant Xhanti Neti of Steenberg Detectives for his probe and contribution for removing an armed criminal from the Steenberg streets.
