A 70-year-old man has been apprehended for suspected engagement with human sacrifice in lieu of the accusation from neighbours that he is witchcraft.

The suspect was identified as Luyombya Godfrey Spire, a native doctor and an inhabitant of Zigoti Town Council in Mityana district.

According to Police in Mityana, on May 10, an intelligent led operation was observed and apprehended the suspect for suspected human sacrifice involvement.

At the crime scene, Wamala Region Police Spokesperson, Nobert Ochom added that “The crime scene was cordoned off and a search conducted, exhibits of human skulls four (04) in number, femur bones, Ribs and parts of leg bones were recovered from the Toilets & Shrines”

The crime scene was visited by a team led by, District CID Officer Mityana, Regional Police Surgeon, Regional Scene of Crime Officer, Regional Fire Officer, in charge homicide, in the presence of the RDC Mityana and other Local leaders.

Ochom added that all exhibits gathered from the scene were conveyed to Mityana Police Station exhibits stores pending labeling, marking and further conveying them to Mityana Hospital mortuary and later to GAL for DNA and other analysis to scientifically be proven as Human body bones.

The other nine suspects apprehended in nexus with the case that will be vital during the investigations are Mwebe Godfrey, Kabali Lawrence, Kalanzi Joram , Nalwoga Carol , Nakakawa Farida, Namenya Florence, Nakasida Hamida, Nasikombya Topista, Kabonge Lawrence, Kayiwa Josephati a juvenile.
