Alhaji Bala Hassan, the Assistant Inspector General of Police ( AIG) In charge of Zone10,  said in Sokoto on Thursday that elaborate security measures had been put in place to ensure hitch-free Sallah celebration.
Hassan said that the three commissioners of police in the zone had been directed to contain any security threat to residents.

He said that sufficient personnel had also been mobilised to provide security at all the praying grounds across the state.

The AIG also said that the zone had taken proactive security measures to ensure arrest and prosecution of all those involved in criminal activities through its community- based policing.

Hassan said that the police in the zone would continue to adopt the necessary sensitive security measures that will see to the arrest and prosecution of miscreants.

He called on the people in the area not to panic as their safety would be guaranteed.

“We appeal to  members of the general public to cooperate and offer useful intelligence reports  to our officers deployed  in various parts  of our areas of supervision for the success of the operation,’’ he said.

Hassan said plain clothes security personnel had also been deployed in state capitals and other identified areas across the zone, with a view to apprehending criminals.

He solicited the support of traditional rulers in sensitising the people to the need to offer information on movement of dubious characters for prompt action.

The AIG said that such information would enable the officers and men of the zone fashion out detailed security arrangements.
