The murder of Aisha Ilyas Aden, a 12-year-old girl raped by 3 gang rapists has been justified by the Puntland government in a court on Sunday regarding the Somalis' street protests and vexed reaction on social media with the hashtag #JusticeForAisha

The Nugal regional court in Garowe has decreed death sentences to the trio, Abdifitah Abdirahman Warsame, Abdisalan Abdirahman Warsame and Abdishakur Mohamed Dige for the rape and murder of Aisha.

This court in Somalia's northern semi-autonomous state of Puntland absolved seven others.

After the girl was reported to be kidnapped on 24th February at Galkayo town, her body was found in the next morning near her home, of which a post-mortem discovered that she had been throttled to death after been gang-raped.

The misconduct by these hoodlums led to street protests together with a vexed reaction on social media with calls to the Puntland government to probe and take action.
