NFF to meet over Keshi, Falcons

The 13-member Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation will meet in Abuja on Thursday to deliberate on the fate of Super Eagles coach Stephen and the other members of the team’s technical crew.

Keshi has not been offered an extension following the expiration of his contract after leading the Super Eagles to the round of 16 at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil .

The team are expected to begin preparation for the qualifiers for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations next month.

The NFF members and the Minister of Sports Dr. Tammy Danagogo could not on Tuesday on the matter and other issues as originally planned.

The former Togo manager is tipped to have a contract renewal with Nigeria and has also been linked with a move to South Africa but he has yet to confirm any relationship with the football associations.

“No one has spoken to me about any contract or invited me to discussion. I am always ready to serve my country to the best of my ability. But we must do things properly,” Keshi told Super Sport.

The NFF committee will review Nigeria’s participation at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, appraise the preparation of the U-20 women team, Falconets, ahead of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada next month and also deliberate on Nigeria’s participation in the qualifying series for the 2015 African U-17 and African U-20 championships.

The readiness of the Super Falcons for the 9th African Women’s Championship in Namibia in October will also be discussed. Falcons will face Namibia , Zambia and Ivory Coast in the AWC.

A statement from the NFF said on Wednesday that the meeting would discuss the pattern for its Annual General Assembly, which is the elective Congress, set to hold next month, and the men and women’s Federation Cup finals holding in Lagos on August 16.
