Controversial former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Reno Omokri, has stated his stand on the verdict of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT against the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Walter Onnoghen, over alleged non-asset declaration.

CEOAfrica had reported on Thursday that Onnoghen was banned by Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, from holding public office for 10 years.

CCT in its judgment also removed Onnoghen from office as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, and chairman, National Judicial Council, NJC, and, confiscated, seized and order the forfeiture of all his monies deposited in his Standard Chartered Bank accounts located in Wuse 2, Abuja.

According to the verdict of the chairman of the tribunal, Danladi Umar, the monies in the affected five bank accounts were acquired illegally, particularly as Onnoghen was said to have not proved his source of income for the seized monies beyond all reasonable doubts.

However, Omokri in a tweet reacted on Thursday, that Onnoghen was convicted because he is not a member of the APC.

According to him, “ONNOGHEN convicted and banned from public office by the @Buhari administration. MAINA reinstated, then given double promotion and armed guards by the same Buhari government.

“Under Buhari, when EFCC see the broom they pass over to the next non @OfficialAPCNg member.”
