In order to enhance the cooperation between the two countries in culture, health and information technology fields, the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his Cote d’Ivoire counterpart Hassan Ouattara on Thursday signed several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).

This comes during the first ever visit of an Egyptian president to Cote d’Ivoire.

Egyptian Presidency spokesperson Bassam Rady said that Ouattara affirmed the depth bilateral relations and the long-standing ties between the two countries.

The Cote d’Ivoire president further expressed his country’s desire to support these relations, especially within the field of information technology, as well as on the economic level.

He also praised the activity of the Egyptian companies operating in Cote d’Ivoire and stressed his government’s keenness to provide the necessary facilities to support them and help overcome any obstacles.

Sisi expressed his nation’s hope that this visit would achieve qualitative leaps in bilateral relations, and stressed the importance of working to improve trade exchange rates, while encouraging new companies to invest in the two countries.

He however, expressed Egypt’s readiness to provide support to Cote d’Ivoire in the fields of infrastructure projects and information technology, and provide training programs across various civil and military fields.

He added that these talks saw harmonic views on a number of regional issues of common concern, especially the Libyan crisis, beside various conflicts in the African continent.

The two sides discussed counter-terrorism efforts, and post-conflict reconstruction efforts in Africa, said Rady, adding that the two presidents also agreed at the end of talks to activate a joint committee headed by the countries foreign ministers to push forward various bilateral cooperation in different fields.
