Chrisland University and CEOAfrica will be organizing a two-day international conference under the theme “Challenges of Growth and Sustainable Development in Africa” scheduled to hold on 24-25 of June 2019, at Chrisland University, Abeokuta, Ogun state capital, Nigeria.
The conference is aimed at providing an interdisciplinary platform for academics, researchers, policy makers, activists, students and professionals in development studies, to attempt answers to questions on the growth and development of Africa.
According to a release published by the organizers, development in Africa is greatly challenged after the evident inability of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to fully attain its objectives before its expiration date. “At the moment, African Countries are still grappling with problems associated with underdevelopment, economic backwardness such as poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, high mortality rate, low standards of living and insecurity” the release states.
The release also highlights that the UN Millennium Declaration of 2000, reached its terminal date in 2015 without a real impact on the African continent therefore leaving behind unanswered questions such as: To what extend has Africa achieved the MDGs? Why has the various development initiatives failed in Africa?
These and more are questions that participants in the conference, led by a high profiled keynote speaker Dr. Dampha Lang Fafa, Executive Secretary of ACALAN-AU, Bamako, Mali will attempt answers to.
Participants to the conference will be selected upon submission of an abstract of not more than 250 words in English on any or related topics given by the conference organizers, on or before April 30th 2019. The various themes to write on and more information is found in the online portalhttp://conference2019.ceoafrica.com, or through an email to conference2019.ceoafrica.com.
