A non-governmental organisation, ‘Transformative Leadership and Sustainable Development Initiative’, TLSDI,has advised the incoming administrations at the state and federal levels to dedicate 40 per cent of their political appointments to youths.

The group said it was worried that young people did not have major representation in decision-making processes of governments in the country.

The NGO said during a media conference tagged ‘Five-year Strategic Action Plan for Nigeria’s Youth Post 2019 General Elections’, that it would be a historic opportunity to deliver the much-needed paradigm shift aimed at changing the narrative of poor governance in Nigeria.

The Executive Director of TLSDI , Opeyemi Oriniowo while peaking at the conference, charged governments across board to accede to the demand, adding that the vision of the group was to see more young people in governance in Nigeria.

Oriniowo said, “We expect our young people’s voices in decision making at federal and state governments. We no longer want tokenism but full representation that will ultimately lead to the realisation of the not-too-young-to-run act, which was not realisable at the just concluded 2019 general elections.”
