Oyo Guber Coalition Drama: Barr. Sharafadeen remains our guber candidate- ZLP

The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) Saturday stated clearly that its gubernatorial candidate, Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli (BSA) is still contesting for Oyo state governorship seat.

The notice came following the news that the opposition parties in Oyo state have adopted Seyi Makinde, the gubernatorial candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as their consensus candidate

According to a press release signed by Oyo ZLP Publicity secretary, Olajide Olanipekun Esq. and was made available to CEOAfrica, the party, although stated that the coalition meeting scheduled for 2nd of March, 2019 did not hold, hence no consensus candidate was adopted to contest the ruling All Progressive Party.

The release reads “The news of adoption of Engr. Seyi Makinde as consensus candidate by the coalition has hit the news stands when meeting where such decision was to be taken never hold.”

However, the release stated that the meeting which will determine if Makinde will be backed by the rest opposition parties is rescheduled to come up on Monday 4th March, 2019.

ZLP further stated that it party is willing to form alliance with other opposition parties but claims that while waiting for the rescheduled date, the party still knows Barrister Abiodun Alli  as the governorship candidate for the March 9 gubernatorial election.

“We of the Zenith Labour Party wish to state clearly that we are committed to forming alliance with other willing opposition parties but as of today, 2nd March, 2019, ZLP as a party has not adopted a consensus candidate with any other political party.  Barriester Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli (BSA) remains the gubernatorial candidate of ZLP.

“We want all our candidates for the state House of Assembly to continue campaigning for the March 9 elections,” the party states.
