Ahead of the forthcoming general elections, the Public Relations Officer of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Oyo state chapter, Dr. Azeez Olatunji has expressed confidence that the electorates are ready to vote massively for the APC and ensure their return both at the federal and state levels.

He made this known while speaking to CEOAfrica correspondent in Ibadan on Tuesday.

According to him, “the electorates are ready to return APC to office come February 16 because they know that prior to 2015 before the advent of President Buhari, power was in a deplorable condition but it is no longer so today. If we would recall, Nigeria used to be ahead of Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia but today they are already ahead us but within the three and a half years of the present administration we have been able to close the gap to an extent and we assure Nigerians with your vote we will not only overtake them but also get to the level of Brazil and eventually the G-20 and that is the aim of the government of the progressive not the government of the looters for the looters by the looters which the PDP represents.

“My confidence ahead of the election is based on three things – the performances of the government at the top, that is the government of President Mohammadu Buhari. Secondly, the government of Governor Ajimobi in Oyo state, the track record of achievements they have been able to string together as if we have never been in this state or country. Thirdly, the appreciative audience out there, never mind all the blackmail, all the innuendos, the lies that are been string together by the opposition, all in a bid to get the favour of the electorates. But the good thing is you only need to get to public places where discuss is taken place, everybody knows what is going on.

“Do we talk about the rail which has been in the pipeline for 35 years between Ajaokuta and Warri but never touched by the criminal government that Nigeria has been having in the past but was only made possible by the government of President Muhammadu Buhari? Everybody has been saying that Ajaokuta Steel Complex has not been producing, but why has it not been producing? Nobody has been able to find out why. Because the people have been appropriating money to that sector only for them to embezzle the money. President Buhari felt that if the iron is to be transported the rail must be in place because you only transport iron on rail, so the first priority is to ensure the rail works. Not only that, look at the rail line between Ibadan and Lagos that is just about to be completed, the opposition was there for 16 years but nothing was done about it.  Look at the Ibadan-Lagos expressway, unending appropriation and the job kept been a recurring decimal of failures, despite the opposition from the national assembly, President Buhari was able to find a way out of the quagmire.”

Also speaking on the transformation witnessed at the state level, Dr. Olatunji said, “look at the new millennium Oyo state that Governor Abiola Ajimobi has taken the state to, imagine a state where we were only proud of making N100 million to N200 million before Governor Ajimobi came into office and now making above N2 billion monthly. When we are talking about a state been viable, a state should be able to pay its workforce without getting to Abuja and that is where Governor Ajimobi is taking Oyo state to and that is why we are talking of ‘Next Level’, Governor Ajimobi has been able to lay the foundation of development in Oyo state. Security is no longer a problem, development and economic vibrancy is now the order of the day in Oyo state.”

On suggestions by the opposition that APC is already jittery, the Oyo state PRO stated that the opposition was only encouraging themselves. He opined that the PDP is not popular and already see the handwriting on the wall as an embarrasing defeat at the polls, noting that all avenues to rig the election by the PDP has been blocked.

He also expressed confidence on the ability of INEC to conduct a free and fair election adding  that the election umpire are doing well.

He further admonished the good people of Oyo state not to follow the agents of darkness, but rather retire them by voting APC at all levels in the coming elections.
